Functional Tester

This is a free 16 week training course followed by the potential for a role with one of our clients.

Job location: Remote, UK (1 day per fortnight in London or Manchester)

The role is linked directly to free education, and upon completion of our course, you will be equipped to start your new role.

What Are We Looking For?

• 1.5+ years of experience in a technology-focused role using Python
• Able to pass a technical assessment in Python, Java or Javascript
• Commitment to complete a 16-week, part-time course to develop your mid-level skills

The Role:

Our clients are looking for Functional Testers to join their team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Test Strategy & Planning: Define clear, efficient test approaches and strategies tailored to application refactoring and legacy modernisation.
• Artefact Creation: Create high-quality test plans, test cases, scenarios, scripts, and traceability matrices aligned with business requirements.
• Test Execution & Quality Assurance: Execute manual and/or automated functional, system, and regression test suites to validate application performance and reliability.
• Defect Management: Identify, log, track, and triage bugs and defects, working closely with software developers and solution architects to resolve issues promptly.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner directly with client teams, programme leads, and third-party delivery partners to ensure seamless alignment across all test phases.

Key Skills:

• Proven Testing Background: Strong experience in software quality assurance, test lifecycle management, and application refactoring projects.
• Public Sector / Large-Scale Delivery: Experience operating within complex, highly regulated enterprise environments or large programme teams.
• Test Artefact Mastery: Expert-level capability in writing, reviewing, and executing detailed test documentation.
• Communication & Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a track record of embedding successfully into client-facing teams.

• Agility & Automation: Take part in modern software development process, you'll further develop your Agile, DevOps and automation skills, deploying to the cloud.
• Innovation & Inclusive Products: By building products with DE&I at the core, you will further harness additional techniques in the software development process to foster the development of inclusive products.
